The DBA Shoppe opened its doors in the Greater Toronto Area in 2004, and was incorporated in that same year. The company was built on the strength of an uncompromising commitment to quality with the goal to become a global leader in remote database administration and project database administration solutions.
The roots of The DBA Shoppe extend back to 1992 in Burlington, Ontario with the founding of its predecessor, an information technology services company. Specializing in software configuration management, over time it was inundated with database administration work, eventually spawning an entire department of DBAs to handle the requests. The DBA department honed its methods and processes and made initial proposals to operate as a separate company in 1999. With its incorporation in 2004, the DBA Department officially became The DBA Shoppe Ltd.
The DBA Shoppe’s Database Administrator Consultants (DBACs) are considered some of the best in their fields, all certified by at least one of the major database vendors, currently Oracle, IBM and Microsoft. This and the processes that were developed over time and through experience ensure that every client’s database receives the specialized attention it deserves.
Since 2004 The DBA Shoppe has rapidly expanded from a small DBAC team, operating out of subletted office space into an international supplier of database administration services with a corporate head office located in Burlington, Ontario and a satellite office in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our clients range from manufacturing and universities to communications and shipping and include Rogers, McMaster University, Bell, NCR, LexisNexis, Procter and Gamble and Reflect.com. It is a testament to The DBA Shoppe and its people that most of our clients are long-term customers and that the company enjoys a very high rate of repeat and referral business.
With the expansion of the Operational DBA line of business, the addition of more Database Administrator Consultants to The DBA Shoppe team and a major foray into the world of international marketing we expect that the next chapter in our history to be as exciting as those previous.
